Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Unveils Debut Pure EV Framework acti.ev

Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM), at the forefront of India’s EV revolution, has unveiled its pioneering Pure EV framework named acti.ev (pronounced active). This groundbreaking architecture, an acronym for Advanced Connected Tech-Intelligent Electric Vehicle, sets the stage for upcoming offerings within the TPEM lineup. The initial product built on this Pure Electric Architecture, named Punch.ev, signifies the start of a range of diverse vehicles in various body styles and sizes. Reservations for Punch.ev are now open, requiring a mere ₹21,000 deposit at select Tata Motors EV-certified showrooms or Tata.ev stores.
Anand Kulkarni, Chief Products Officer and Head of HV Programs and Customer Service at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., expressed pride in this milestone, highlighting acti.ev as a locally crafted, cutting-edge Pure EV architecture poised to redefine India’s swiftly evolving EV market. The meticulously crafted architecture prioritizes class-leading efficiencies, maximizing space, battery capacity, and overall driving experience. Designed to be globally compatible and future-proof, acti.ev integrates software-driven features, ensuring technological advancement across TPEM’s vehicle range.

Kulkarni also announced the debut of Punch.ev as the first product embodying this advanced architecture, marking the next era of TPEM’s EV lineup. With a commitment to sparking joy in their growing community, TPEM aims to replicate the success of their current EV portfolio with future products rooted in the acti.ev architecture.

The acti.ev framework revolves around key pillars: Performance, Technology, Modularity, and Space Efficiency, encompassing four distinctive layers:

Layer 1 – Powertrain acti.ev showcases an optimized battery pack design, boasting cells meeting advanced global standards, resulting in a 10% increase in energy density. Offering multiple range options spanning 300 km to 600 km, the architecture allows for flexibility in choosing drivetrain options—AWD, RWD, or FWD. With AC fast charging support ranging from 7.2kW to 11kW and DC fast charging up to 150kW, approximately 100 km of range can be added in just 10 minutes.

Layer 2 – Chassis The second layer accommodates various body styles with a reinforced structure capable of meeting future safety protocols. Prioritizing cabin space and storage, acti.ev incorporates a flat floor without a transmission tunnel and an additional frunk, optimizing cabin occupancy. Its lower center of gravity enhances driving dynamics and handling.

Layer 3 – Electrical Architecture Future-ready and scalable, acti.ev boasts higher computing power and ADAS level 2 capabilities. Prepared for ADAS L2+ functionalities, it ensures heightened safety and navigation standards. Equipped with 5G readiness, seamless connectivity is guaranteed. Additionally, it supports Vehicle to Load (V2L) and Vehicle to Vehicle Charging (V2V) technology.

Layer 4 – Cloud Architecture Designed on a scalable cloud architecture, this layer promises an enriched user experience through Arcade.ev, an in-car app suite. Featuring state-of-the-art connectivity and advanced over-the-air updates for software and other functionalities, acti.ev remains at the forefront of innovation.
